n8n consultants who review, fix and harden the instance you already run

Your n8n instance started as one builder's project. Now it syncs orders, routes leads and runs an AI agent, on settings nobody has reviewed since. We review every workflow and setting, fix what fails, close the security gaps and hand it all back documented.

Jason, our COO, runs the call and leads the instance review.

What our n8n consultants do

Consulting starts from the instance you already run. When you need new workflows built, our n8n agency team builds them, or you can hire an n8n expert for one scoped workflow.

Review

Instance and workflow review

We read every workflow, credential and setting, then rank what we find by risk and by cost. Larger programs start with an AI Audit that maps the processes around n8n as well.

Rescue

Remediation of what someone else built

We take on workflows a contractor left behind, agents that fail without telling anyone and model providers you need to switch. We fix each one in a test environment and run the fixed version beside the original until the outputs match.

Tune

Cost and performance tuning

We find repeated API calls, model calls on records that have not changed, and heavy workflows that belong in queue mode. Each shows up on a bill or as a slow run, and each has a fix.

Pair

An n8n expert beside your builder

Hours on call for the person who owns n8n on your team: pairing on changes, reviewing before production and answering what the docs do not. For whole teams, see n8n training.

n8n security: what we check on every instance

Self-hosting keeps your data in your own cloud and makes the configuration your responsibility. Two n8n vulnerabilities published in January 2026 show where a default setup leaves you exposed.

CVSS 8.5, high

CVE-2026-0863: Python sandbox escape in the Code node

A signed-in user with basic permissions could escape the Python sandbox and take over an instance running in Internal execution mode. In External mode, as in n8n's official Docker image, code runs in a sidecar container. We check execution mode and task runner setup.

CVSS 5.3, medium

CVE-2025-68949: Webhook IP allowlist bypass

From version 1.36.0 to before 2.2.0, the Webhook node matched allowlisted IP addresses as partial strings, so a request from outside the list could pass. n8n fixed it in 2.2.0. We check the version and webhook authentication.

Sources: CISA, Vulnerability Summary for the Week of January 12, 2026 (SB26-020), and the US National Vulnerability Database entries for both CVEs.

What we check
VersionA release that carries the current security fixes
Execution modeCode nodes run in external task runners, not on the host
WebhooksHeader, basic or JWT authentication, never an IP allowlist alone
CredentialsScoped per environment, with an external secrets store on Enterprise
AccessSSO and role-based access, with no shared owner login
Execution dataPruned on a schedule, so personal data does not pile up in logs
FailuresAn error workflow and an alert on every production workflow
ChangesSeparate test and production, with workflows in Git

If you handle patient or financial data, enterprise AI governance covers the controls around the instance, and AI agents in healthcare shows where the data boundary sits.

How an n8n consulting engagement runs

Four steps with one accountable team. How long each takes depends on the size of your instance, so we tell you before you commit. See how we work

  1. 01
Access to your instance, then a written report

    Review

We go through workflows, credentials, versions and settings, and rank every finding by risk and by cost. You see the ranked list before anything changes.

  2. 02
    Highest risk first

    Fix

We fix workflows in a test environment, then run the fixed and original versions side by side until the outputs match.

  3. 03
    Settings, access and alerts

    Harden

Upgrades, execution mode, webhook authentication, credential scoping, data pruning, and an error workflow that alerts your team.

  4. 04
    Documented, with access to everything

    Hand over or stay on

Your team gets documentation for every change. If you want us to keep watch, AI managed services covers monitoring and upgrades.

From a stalled Odoo project to an n8n layer in production

A Dutch Odoo implementation partner had spent a year trying to build appointment scheduling for a dental care group natively in Odoo. We moved the scheduling logic out of Odoo and into n8n.

Five sync workflows feed an n8n agent that places every appointment

Practitioners, locations and treatment series sync nightly from Odoo into a Supabase planning cache. The agent selects each slot and reports every placement it could not make, with the reason.

n8n consulting from an official Select Partner

Ovidius AI is a Select Partner in n8n's Expert Partner program and is listed in n8n's partner directory. For you, that means plan advice before you buy and an instance set up the way n8n runs it in production.

Plan advice before you buy

Whether you need Community, Business or Enterprise depends on your security team. We match features such as SSO, environments, Git, log streaming and external secrets to what it requires. Compare the plans

n8n's production patterns

Queue mode for volume, separate test and production environments, and workflows under version control, set up the way n8n documents them.

Advice that can turn into a build

When a review shows you need new workflows or agents, the engineers who reviewed your instance build them. GoKickflip's n8n pipeline cut the cost per article from $700 to $12.11. Read the GoKickflip case

One team after the handover

Jason, our COO, scopes the review and leads the handover. Maciej, our CTO, owns the architecture behind every fix and runs the instance if you keep us on.

Questions about hiring an n8n consultant

Ask us something else

What does an n8n consultant do?

An n8n consultant reviews, fixes and hardens n8n instances and workflows, and advises the people who build in them. An n8n agency mostly builds new workflows. We do both. This page covers consulting, and our n8n agency page covers new builds.

Is self-hosted n8n secure?

It can be, once it is configured for production. The settings that matter most are the execution mode for Code nodes, webhook authentication, credential scoping, SSO and role-based access, execution data pruning and staying current with releases. Our review checks each one against your instance.

What does an n8n security review cover?

Everything in the checklist above: version, execution mode, webhooks, credentials, access, execution data, failures and change control. Each finding is ranked by risk and cost before anything is changed. Plan and licence questions are covered on our n8n Enterprise page.

Can you fix workflows someone else built?

Yes. We read the workflows as they are, fix them in a test environment and run the fixed version beside the original until the outputs match, so nothing changes for your team until the fix is proven.

How do you charge for n8n consulting?

Fixes and rebuilds are scoped as a project with a written plan. Ongoing help is a retainer billed by the hour up to an agreed cap. We price both on the discovery call, once we have seen the size of your instance.
